Vesna Miović was born in Dubrovnik in 1961. She have finished the Orientalistic studies at the University of Sarajevo and obtained PhD at the University of Zagreb. She works in the Historical Institute of Croatian Academy of Sciences and Arts in Dubrovnik. Her scientific work is based on researching in the State Archives of Dubrovnik, with the special interest on the rich collection of the Ottoman documents. Her main scientific interests lie on the Ottoman-Ragusan relationship on various levels (from private and personal to interstate one) and, since the last few years, on the 16th - 19th century history of the Ragusan Jews. She teaches on the mentioned topics at Dubrovnik University’s Doctoral Studies Historical Demography.
