Dr. David was born in Israel in 1943.
Former Head Researcher of Hebrew Manuscripts at the National Library of Israel. He received his Ph.D degree from the Hebrew University in 1977 in Jewish historiography in the 16th century under the supervision of Prof. Hayyim Beinart.
Dr. David is dealing with Jewish history in Western and Central Europe and in the Middle East in Medieval and Early Modern periods. He has published in those fields nine books and one hundred and eighty articles in Hebrew and European languages. Dr. David has also published a considerable number of articles, based on the Cairo Genizah, regarding the social, economic and spiritual status of the Jews expelled from Spain in the Middle East.
Dr. David has been invited as a visiting scholar in various academic centers in Europe (Germany, England and France) and the USA (Harvard University). In 2006 he was a visiting Professor at the Ecole Pratique des Houtes Etudes, Section des Sciences Historiques et Philologiques, Paris.
